SUMMARY:ScotlandIS: Tech Tidbits: Navigating Supply Chain Risk
DESCRIPTION:Join ScotlandIS Tech Tidbits\, on the first Tuesday of every month!\n\n\n\nThese 30 minute webinars will be short\, informative sessions on a variety of topics\, from exporting to cybersecurity\, cloud computing to procurement\, and many more. \nFor this extra webinar in February to mark Cyber Scotland Week 2025\, guest speaker Debra Cairns\, Managing Director of Net-Defence will talk about Supply Chain Risk.  Over the past two to three years\, supply chain (SC) risk has shifted from an emerging to current risk.  Supply chain risk encompasses a wide range of factors\, including economic uncertainty\, political instability\, natural disasters\, and supplier failures. \nAn attack on a business’s supply chain can cause significant impact on operations – products\, systems\, and services. Equally as damaging is a cybercriminal launching a cyberattack against a business’s supply chain. \nIdentifying these risks can be challenging\, as supply chains are often large\, complex\, and interconnected. Threats can emerge at any point and take many forms\, whether they are inherent\, introduced\, or exploited by cybercriminals looking for vulnerabilities. \nLearn: \n\nWhat is Supply Chain Risk & Types of Risk (Inherent/Introduced/Exploited)\nExploited Risk\nHuman Risk\nRole of email\nSC Risk Management

SUMMARY:ScotlandIS Tech Tidbits: Make Your Data Lovable
DESCRIPTION:Join Scotland IS and their new series of events\, ScotlandIS Tech Tidbits\, on the first Tuesday of every month! \nThese 30 minute webinars will be short\, informative sessions on a variety of topics\, from exporting to cybersecurity\, cloud computing to procurement\, and many more. \nEach event will feature a ScotlandIS member offering their expert insights and advice on the topic in hand.  You do not need to be a member to attend these talks. \nIn September\, Scotland IS will be joined by Stephen Murphy\, Enterprise Account Manager at Quest. \nImagine you’re in a room full of mismatched spreadsheets\, each one insisting it knows who “Customer 123” is\, but none of them agree. That’s where Stephen’s story begins. He’ll walk you through the moment Quest finally said “Enough!” and ran their data only to discover they had been carrying around 127 duplicate fields like extra luggage. \nNext comes the secret weapon\, a lineage-hunting bot that mapped every column in minutes and gave Quest the confidence to launch a dashboard people actually wanted to use. Along the way Stephen will stay honest with three gut-check questions: Does it bring value? Can it last? Is it doable? He will finish with a quick look at AI that can sketch data models on the fly\, and leave you with one dare: go home\, retire one dusty report\, and start making your data lovable.

SUMMARY:CISO Safe Space - Mental Health & Wellbeing in Cyber Security
DESCRIPTION:Our next CISO Safe Space will take place on 24th February as part of Cyber Scotland Week 2025. \nHeld in partnership with CyberNorth\, this session will be led by Annabel Berry of Leading Cyber\, and will focus on mental health and wellbeing in the cyber security sector. \nAs cybersecurity professionals\, we operate in a high-pressure environment\, constantly facing evolving threats and the responsibility of protecting critical systems and data. This constant vigilance and the weight of potential consequences can lead to an overall reduction in wellbeing\, and longer-term significant stress\, anxiety\, and burnout. \nThe 24/7 nature of the industry\, coupled with the fear of missing a critical threat or experiencing a major breach\, creates a demanding and often overwhelming workload. \nThis can lead to critical errors in judgment\, missed crucial security indicators\, or an ongoing struggle to maintain focus and vigilance. \nThis workshop will address these challenges and why it is critical to our overall cyber resilience that we address this on an individual\, team and organisational level.
