SUMMARY:YCSC | CI/CD Pipeline Attacks: Virtual Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:CI/CD Pipeline Attacks: Virtual Masterclass\nWed\, 15 May 2024 12:00 – 13:00 BST\n\n\nThis session welcomes learners with an understanding of the fundamentals or advanced technical proficiency. \nJoin us virtually for a Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster Masterclass on CI/CD pipeline attacks – how attackers exploit simple oversights to attack supply chains\, delivered by Simon Gurney\, CTO of Punk Security. \nCI/CD servers\, and the overall software development lifecycle\, are becoming prime targets for attacks because hackers recognise that they contain the crown jewels for software companies\, but also provide an opportunity to perform supply chain attacks and breach the perimeters of potentially millions of companies from just one vendor breach. In this talk\, we will explain some of the key security concepts you should be aware of when using and configuring CI/CD pipelines and some of the clever things attackers get up to. After this talk\, you’ll be fully prepared to recognise and avoid these vulnerabilities. \nSimon is the CTO of Punk Security\, an innovative security consultancy championing cloud and application security. With 17 years of IT experience\, in a career spanning most technical fields\, Simon found his niche with DevSecOps and the value that a broad skill-set can bring to an organisation. When Simon isn’t busy with Punk Security he’s committed to his young family\, and developing the next generation of talent as a frequent speaker and OWASP Chapter lead. \n

SUMMARY:Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster | Secure Against What? A Threat Modelling Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:Secure Against What? A Threat Modelling Masterclass\nWed. 15 November 2023 | 13:30 – 15:00 BST \nOnline \nEvent Details\nDuring this masterclass Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster will be joined by Richard King\, Business Analyst at BJSS. \nRichard has never had much respect for warranties. As a child\, his parents banned him from going within arm’s length of any new household electronics\, in case he tried to take them apart to find out how they worked. Later he became interested not only in how things work but also how they fail. He’s worked on various security products\, including DDoS protection\, encrypted multi-party chat\, secure file-sharing\, and accidental data-breach prevention. \nRichard is currently a business analyst\, squad lead\, and security evangelist at BJSS Sheffield. \nThreat modelling is an analysis method that helps you identify vulnerabilities so that you can mitigate them. It’s a proactive way to review and improve your security. \nJoin them to work through a practical threat-modelling method that will: \n\nMinimise vulnerabilities\nAvoid waste\nCommunicate the security properties of your system\nExplain which security measures are necessary or valuable\, and why\nStand up to review and challenge
