SUMMARY:25.2 What the Quantum?!
DESCRIPTION:Quantum technologies aren’t coming — they’re already here\, and they’re changing everything. \nJoin CyNam for What the Quantum?!\, our second headline event of the year\, as we dive into the convergence of quantum technologies and cyber security. \nThis event is built for professionals and curious minds across cyber security\, quantum technologies\, and adjacent sectors. Expect a programme packed with real-world insight and immediate relevance. \nWe’ll kick things off by introducing quantum technologies and showing exactly why they matter for cyber security today. We’ll dig into the new risks quantum is creating — risks that are already challenging existing security systems. But it’s not just about threats. We’ll uncover the exciting opportunities quantum presents to strengthen and reimagine cyber defences. And throughout\, we’ll ask the big question: is our industry — and our wider ecosystem — truly ready for a world where quantum disruption is no longer a theory\, but a fact? \nAnd the energy doesn’t stop there. Attendees will also gain access to a panel discussion and VIP networking event at Cheltenham Science Festival. Join leading experts from the UK South West for a conversation exploring the cutting-edge world of quantum computing. University of Oxford professor Vlatko Vedral\, Duality Quantum Photonics engineer Imogen Forbes\, and Capital Enterprise’s Kimberley Brook\, with NVIDIA quantum computing expert Nic Harrigan\, will explore the current landscape of quantum technology\, from academia to Silicon Valley\, and the groundbreaking innovations that lie ahead. The panel will be chaired by Marieke Navin. \nThis is a unique opportunity to be part of the conversation that’s already shaping the future. By combining CyNam’s powerful community with the inspirational setting of the Cheltenham Science Festival\, we’re creating a space for real insights\, real connections\, and real action. If you want to understand how quantum and cyber security are converging — and why it matters now — this is the event you can’t miss.

SUMMARY:Cyber in Society - an ESG exploration
DESCRIPTION:Businesses are increasingly aware of their need to have a role as constructive societal supporters\, especially if bidding for government contracts that require evidence of their ESG credentials. Their cyber posture is critical to projecting and sustaining that societal value and is increasingly a valuable part of their brand. This event will provide a platform to understand how to implement and project those values. \nBuilding upon our 2024 event “ESG thru a Cyber Lens” which attracted nearly 500 in-person and online attendees\, this year’s event focusses on the S in ESG\, Social; The link between Society and Cyber Security. \nAs touched on in last year’s event\, Cyber has become ‘other’\, something most people don’t understand\, yet it is integral to the stability of society and businesses in society as we increasingly become a digital first nation. This event will bridge that gap\, making the role of cyber in society understandable\, whilst championing those that connect cyber and society together\, whether through cyber technology or cyber related positive action. \nThe event is presented in 3 sessions: \n\nCyber in society – touch points and perspective\nCybersecurity and its impact in shaping society\nSafely connecting cyber and society in practice\n\nKeynoting the event will be the Department of Science\, Innovation and Technology\, who will lay out how regulation supports businesses to develop good cyber governance. OFCOM will talk about the role of enforcement in the context of regulation like the Online Safety Act\, an increasingly hot topic as the UK leads the world in seeking to guide social platforms towards good societal practise.
