DESCRIPTION:Hack to Basics: Rebuilding After a Cyber Breach\nTuesday\, April 16 · 9:30am – 2pm GMT+1\n24 Mount Preston Street Woodhouse LS2 9ND\nRealising that emails are being sent on your behalf\, your password has been reset\, and you’ve received a ransomware message\, what would you do? \nAccording to the latest Cyber Security Breach Survey\, 73% of businesses overall do not have a cyber incident response plan\, leaving them vulnerable to greater downtime and loss in the case of an incident. \nThis event is designed for people working within organisations who want to be prepared\, as well as those with an interest in learning more about incident response. Attendees should expect to develop a clearer understanding of how to respond during that stomach dropping moment of an incident\, to minimise loss and get back to business as usual. This will also include how to build a resilient incident response plan\, mitigate loss post-breach\, leverage resources and partnerships\, and conclude with an actionable checklist which we can share with attendees. \nVenue \nNewlyn Building\, University Business School\, 24 Mount Preston St\, Woodhouse\, Leeds LS2 9ND. \nEach YCSC chapter is dedicated to making cyber security opportunities more accessible to everyone in Yorkshire. This strategic expansion ensures that no one misses out\, bringing tailored events right to your doorstep. However\, that doesn’t mean you can’t attend from afar! SUMMARY:CyNam | Navigating the intersection of bio- and cyber security
DESCRIPTION:Navigating the intersection of bio- and cyber security\nTuesday 5th March\, 06:00 pm – 09:30 pm GMT\n\n\nThis event will highlight the synergies between engineering biology and cyber. By bringing together professionals from industry\, the public sector\, and academia in both sectors\, the event seeks to explore collaborative avenues for growth to ensure the UK retains its competitive edge in global cyber and technological leadership. \nIn an era marked by a surge in cybercrime\, calls to revitalise unconventional approaches to cybersecurity have gained traction. This includes applying biological principles to information technology\, a concept that dates back to the early 2000s. This event will facilitate a deeper understanding and practical application of this concept. \nHowever\, cyber security principles could also support the development of engineering biology [products]. Despite the UK government’s recognition of engineering biology as one of its five critical technologies\, public apprehension regarding safety issues\, potential misuse\, and the blurred line between natural and artificial elements poses a challenge. Genuine security risks and ethical dilemmas further compound these concerns. \nThis atmosphere of distrust has the potential to impede innovation by hindering widespread adoption\, thereby jeopardising the UK’s standing as a frontrunner in this technology. Recognising the relationship between cybersecurity and engineering biology\, there exists a prime opportunity for the our cyber ecosystem to foster secure and responsible innovation within another sector.
