Midlands Cyber | CyberVerse: What can you see in your OSINT Reflection

May 14 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

CyberVerse: What can you see in your OSINT Reflection

Date: Tuesday, 14 May
Time: 15:00 – 16:00 BST
Location: The Exchange, 3 Centenary Square Birmingham B1 2DR

Join Midlands Cyber to hear about ISACA’s Digital Trust Ecosystem Framework and the key components of effective cyber security: People, Process and Technology. The main element of the session will provide an overview of how OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) techniques are able to deliver cost effective assurance around this Trust. It’s significance pivots on it’s ability to provide valuable insights without relying on secretive or covert sources – this transparent insight is theoretically available to anybody. Therefore any inconsistency between an entity’s published position and that view would very quickly erode trust.

In this session will see the use of some OSINT techniques, so you can see what you can find out from your own digital footprint.

We will also be giving up to 30 attendees, a free digital footprint for their organisation, together with any breach data detected. This will be undertaken separately, on a mutually agreeable date and time and not within the group session for obvious reasons. As you will see in the main session, this does not require any intrusive agents to be installed, it is data which can found somewhere on the Surface, Deep, or Dark webs.

Mike Hughes

Mike has been involved with ISACA for over 30 years at both the Local and International levels. Mike is the Past President and Director of Relationships for ISACA Central UK and Mike has also served on a number of ISACA’s Internal Boards and Committees, including a term on ISACA’s Internal Borad of Directors.

As well as holding a number of ISACA’s certifications, including CISM, CRISC and CISA, Mike is also one of ISACA’s trainers for the exam preparation courses for these certifications.

Mike’s many years of volunteering with ISACA was recognised in 2023, when he was inducted into ISACA’s Hall of Fame.

Mike has over 40 years experience, including 10 years in mainstream IT, 20 years with KPMG in a number of senior roles and for the past 16 years as a Director with Prism RA, a technology and cyber governance, risk, compliance and security consultancy.

Keith Hayes

Keith has over 25 years experience delivering information security, risk and compliance governance services – not only through the consultancy floors of blue-chip companies such as Siemens and IBM, but also as an end-user CISO for many major enterprise brands. Having recently visited the national museum of computing (and been graphically reminded just old his IT whiskers are),  he is nevertheless going to prove you can teach an old dog new tricks. Recently a chance encounter with an inspiring OSINT trainer led Keith to realise how useful it is to have OSINT techniques in your toolbox. Generous to a fault, he’s going to give you some easy to use OSINT spanners in his session.
