Coffee, Cake and Collaboration | Cyber North

Coffee, cake and collaboration – Come along to the second in our series of joint workshops with CyberNorth and Newcastle University’s Centre for Cyber Security and Resilience and Security and Resilient Systems Group. The topic is AI and machine learning, an exciting area of development supporting robust cyber security systems while on the other hand, opening up potential threat vectors. This is an opportunity for collaboration between academia and industry, over cake and coffee of course.

About the Centre for Cyber Security and Resilience

The Centre for Cyber Security and Resilience is an interdisciplinary, socio-technical Centre of Research Excellence of Newcastle University with 135 members. Having been recognised as a national Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research in 2013, Newcastle builds on its track record in core security, dependability and industry impact to infuse cyber security and resilience into emergent technologies. The Centre follows the motto “Protecting the fabric of society.”

About the Secure and Resilient Systems Group

The Secure and Resilient Systems group conducts pioneering research which has a direct impact on government, industry, and society. We examine the nature of the cyber environment, and how we can protect the human experience within it. Our research remit is broad and spans:

– human aspects of security and privacy

– system security, incl. cryptography, authentication and authorisation,

– security of complex systems, such as IoT and smart buildings,

– system dependability and fault tolerance, and

– formal verification of safety and security properties.

The Secure and Resilient Systems group is an integral part of the Newcastle University Centre of Research Excellence (NUCoRE) for Cyber Security and Resilience and of the Newcastle Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR).
